Tell us about your business – what do you do, who are your clients, and why do they choose you?

My business is called CG Hairdressing. I’m a hair and colour image consultant and I run my business from my salon in Mt. Eliza. My clients are women who understand the value of good grooming and the impact their image can have.  I work with women aged between 30 and 70 styling and assessing signature colours for their wardrobe, makeup, and hair.  They choose to work with me because of my knowledge and expertise.

How did you get to where you are today?

I believe my customer service is second to none and my experience spans many years of business learning and personal growth. I like to ensure that the experience my clients have is so good they return time and again.

What do you love most about your work?

I’m passionate about helping my clients transform inside and out. I love to follow their journey whether it’s for a short time they are with me or for a longer period.

What’s the most challenging thing about running your business?

As a businesswoman, a mother and wife, I think my biggest challenge is juggling which hat to wear. I’ve got many roles from being a hairdresser, stylist, cleaner, shampoo girl, bookkeeper, networker, social media guru and psychologist.

What’s one habit you stick to that’s helped in the success of your business?

My first golden rule to grow my business is without a doubt to provide GREAT customer service, I believe this is key.

What’s one piece of advice that has never left you?

To be consistent in everything I do.

What’s one trait you think all business owners need to survive?

I think to be successful and to survive in business you need to deliver great customer service, understand and deliver your USP, and be consistent in doing it.

What are you excited about right now?

I’m excited by the possibilities that lay ahead. I’m actively building my network of connections and online visibility to grow my business and I feel I’m growing personally alongside it.

What does success mean to you?

Success is growing my business, so I can use my services as a tool to reach out to more people to help them. In growing my business, I’m also securing a great future for me and my family.

What impact has investing in your brand had on you or your business?

Last year I decided to re-invest in my business with a website and professional photos.  I wanted to do that so my ideal client could understand me – my business, my concept, and my values.  What I offer is unique and individual, and I needed to find someone that could showcase my USP. When I first met Fi and saw her work I knew she would be able to deliver.

Investing in my business has definitely elevated my game. Understanding my brand and delivering that through imagery – across both my website and social media – has enabled my ideal client to find me. It’s set me apart from other hairdressers in the industry.

Since investing in my brand I’ve also been able to increase my service prices, and I’ve only had the confidence to do that because my new imagery has helped position me as an expert and set me apart from others in the marketplace.
